Overview  |  New Innovations

Technical Polymers Research group is dedicated to providing solutions to improve the performances of our Rilsan® polyamide resins. We work in close collaboration with our customers.

Rilsan® polyamide 11 and 12 resins have excellent thermomechanical resistance as well as good impact properties at very low temperatures. Rilsan® resins have excellent resistance to fuels and hydrocarbons and, unlike many polyamide resins, have low moisture pickup. Rilsan® polyamide 11 is made from a unique renewable monomer derived from castor oil.

The Coatings group supports Rilsan® fine powders. These Rilsan® polyamide 11 powders can be applied through electrostatic or fluidized bed coating techniques. The principal applications are dishwasher baskets, pipe coatings for potable water transport and linings for steel pipe used in oil production.

The Melt-Processing group develops applications and supports customers in all the various melt-processing applications for our Rilsan® resins. Rilsan® resins are the reference material for airbrake tubings found on most tractor-trailer rigs. Rilsan® resins are also widely used for fittings, connectors and cable coatings in many under-the-hood applications. Our scientists and engineers are experts in melt-processing of Rilsan® and in resin modification through compounding to meet specific market requirements. They operate a full range of melt-processing equipment such as injection molding, pipe and tubing extruders, cable coatings extruders, and a variety of compounding equipment. They also operate the best available testing equipment including a robotized system to assess mechanical properties.

Our Technical Polymers Research group in King of Prussia, Pa., works in close collaboration with our research center in Serquigny (France), for all basic research on Rilsan® polyamides, and with specific competencies in melt-processing techniques and computer-aided design. They also have a close relationship with our research center in Pierre-Benite (France), and work closely with our team in Kyoto Technical Center (Japan) and our development teams in Europe, the US and Asia.
