The Mobile (Axis), AL plant manufactures products based on three primary chemistries: acrylic polymers, organo tins, and thio chemicals. Acrylic polymers are additives used to improve the properties (impact modifiers) and processing (process aids) of a wide variety of plastic items. Impact modifiers are used to improve the strength of PVC pipe, siding, fence, decking and trim, while process aids improve the productivity, quality and cost of producing an even wider group of products including PVC film, sheet, bottles and packaging. Organo tins are used as catalysts in applications such as automobile electrocoat systems, powder coatings, insulating foam, and silicon caulk. They are also used to produce heat stabilizers found in many vinyl products such as pipe, decking, siding and window profiles. Thio chemicals are also used to make heat stabilizers for vinyl products. Additionally they are used as active ingredients in permanent wave solutions, hair removers, and as corrosion inhibitors in the oil and gas industry. .
- McDavid-Jones Elementary School Partners-in-Education Program – Our facility has been a participant in the Mobile County School System’s “Partners-in-Education” (PIE) program for more than 20 years. PIE was created to form a working relationship between business, government, volunteer and civic leaders with a Mobile County Public school and or a specific educational program. The program is a nationally recognized method of increasing community awareness and input into the local education process. The PIE Partnerships have one common theme: improving the quality of education in Mobile County for every child.
- Lemoyne Community Advisory Panel (CAP) Participants –We are part of a panel whose work together help the LeMoyne area grow and develop in a positive manner while respecting the desires of the community. The member companies have operated for many years as good neighbors, and stewards of the environment and through the Community Advisory Panel have worked hard to provide information about their operations and activities.
- LeMoyne Industrial Park annual community day event –This day gives local residents the opportunity to meet plant workers and management in a comfortable setting.
- Science Teacher Program – The Mobile plant is a participant in Arkema’s annual innovative, hands-on science program. The program was designed to mentor and help equip local area elementary teachers with new methods of stimulating scientific interest for their students.
- SMobile Chamber of Commerce "Community Service Award" – The plant was the 2007 recipient of the Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce annual “Community Service Award”.
