The Alsip, IL plant manufactures a range of latex emulsion products that are supplied to manufacturers of coatings, adhesives and construction products. Vinyl acetate and butyl acrylate are building blocks used in the production of specialty polymers, agricultural and water treatment chemicals. We use them in the production of water-based latex which is then sold to coating manufacturers for paints, caulks, adhesives and sealants. - In 2011, the Alsip plant was recognized with Arkema Inc.’s President’s Star Safety Award – presented for no injuries in the last two years
- The Alsip plant pays close attention to identifying potential risks and acting to minimize the impact of those risks:
- Site employees use a “Safety Suggestion Tool” to enter safety suggestions
- Every safety suggestion is reviewed during monthly team meetings
- Monthly recognition for the best employee safety recommendation
- Employees are encouraged to recognize and are rewarded when they identify any situation that could have a potential health, environmental or safety impact on the facility, the community, or the customer
- Share Your Soles – Our plant is a shoe collection site for the Alsip-based non-profit Share Your Soles® Foundation. We participate in the annual shoe drive to collect new and gently used shoes for children and adults in impoverished areas of the world and are a contributing sponsor for Share Your Soles® in the Chicago Marathon.
- Adopt a Family – In coordination with the Alsip Chamber of Commerce, we provided eight people with clothing/gifts in the 2010 holiday season.
- Emergency Response Drills – We work in coordination with local emergency responders for emergency response drills.
- Chemical Industry Council – We are an annual dinner sponsor.
