Technical Polymers Health & Human Care

Arkema's C11 Castor Oil Derivatives, Cristamid® Polyamide , Kynar® Polyvinylidene Fluoride (PVDF) and Kynar Flex PVDF® , Kynar Rx,  Pebax® Resins , Orgasol® Powders , Platamid® Hot Melt Adhesives, Rilsan® Fine Powder and Rilsan® Polyamide 11 & 12 are used in a variety of health and human care applications:

Pebax® Resins are extensively used in the medical industry, particularly in medical delivery catheters. Due to their intrinsic flexibility (no plasticizers), good touch feel, excellent processability, superior torque transference, resistance to softening in the body, Pebax® Resin makes an excellent choice for the medical instrument field. These grades of Pebax® Resin are sterilizable with various methods, RF weldable and have a USP class VI clearance.

In addition, Pebax® Resins can be used for certain types of medical bandages offering great flexibility and stretching as well as superior breathability properties. Pebax® Resin has been used in surgical garments, sheeting, mattress covers etc. particularly due to the high breathability of the material without any porosity.

  • Gloves

    • With Lotryl™ Resin, Arkema Functional Polyolefins offers a range of ethylene-acrylic ester copolymers that respond to the very specific needs of this rapidly evolving market.

Gloves made of Lotryl™ Resin films have excellent touch characteristics that do not change the sensitivity of the fingers, offer excellent seal strength to avoid the risk of infection, as well as easy opening thanks to antiblock additives.

  • Hygiene films
  • In the hygiene market, disposable products have replaced traditional products in many areas, such as operating clothes, baby diaper films, incontinence diaper films and feminine hygiene products. In this market, innovation is continuous. There is always a demand for products that are more comfortable, quieter, and with a textile feel.

Hygiene films made of Lotryl™ Resins are the right answer to these demands. In the case of polyethylene, cast film process with an embossed chill roll is needed to produce films having improved touch properties and better noise performance. This process requires a high capital investment. Lotryl™ Resin only requires a blown film extrusion unit and allows the production of high quality films for both touch and noise properties. In addition, Lotryl™ Resin films allow improved sealability.
