Automotive Overview
Arkema's C11 Castor Oil Derivatives, Functionalized Polyolefins, Kynar® Polyvinylidene Fluoride (PVDF), Kynar Flex® PVDF, Orgalloy® Resins, Pebax® Resins, Platamid® & Platherm® Resins, Rilsan® Fine Powder, Rilsan® Polyamide 11 & 12 are used in wide range of automotive applications:
- Multi layer fuel lines and fittings
- Brake lines and fittings
- Interior upholstery
- Exterior finishes
- Electrical wires and components
- Hose, tubes, fittings and plastic components
- Lubricants
- Fuel tank
- The main performance requirements for automotive fuel tanks are low fuel emission and high mechanical resistance.
The blow moulding coextrusion process allows us produce multi-layer plastic fuel tanks in association with high fuel resistant HDPE incorporating hydrocarbon barrier material Soarnol® EVOH. The fuel tanks made with this process can have complex forms and low weight. Easy to recycle, these multi-layer EVOH structures were developed to replace fluorinated HDPE or metal tanks.
Orevactm Resins are widely used in this application, with suitable rheology for the blow moulding process and outstanding adhesion between HDPE and EVOH. Orevactm Resins offer excellent adhesive and mechanical performance combined with remarkable resistance to different types of fuels.
- Thermo-adhesive films
- Cars with interior cloth fabrics are more stylish and comfortable. Fabrics have to be supported by rigid structures both on doors and roofs.
Using thermo-adhesive films is an easy and environmentally friendly way to bond fabrics to substrates such as composites or rigid foams. Lotader® Resin and OrevacTM Resins offer a wide range of grades suitable for different structures and usage conditiions.
- Sound dampening
