Arkema has a wide range of hydrogen peroxide 35% grades available for the disinfection of food packaging, the Valsterane® grades, characterised by strict production control and high purity. These qualities are used for aseptic packaging processes (by dipping or spraying) as a sterilisation agent for packaging in direct contact with food and beverages. It can also be used for oxidation processes which require very high levels of purity and stability and where the use of standard grade hydrogen peroxide is not appropriate.

Valsterane® AL1

The stability of VALSTERANE® AL1 and its low dry residue allow the product to be used in sterilisation applications using either a spray or, in some cases, a bath of H2O2 (HAMBA machines). Valsterane® AL1 purity conforms with the purity levels specified in the European Pharmacopoeia and in the Food Chemical Codex.

Valsterane® AL2

It is the most stabilised Valsterane® and can also be used in H202 formulations for which a high stability level is required. Valsterane® AL2 purity conforms with purity levels specified by the European Pharmacopoeia.

Valsterane® AL3

Valsterane® AL3 is specifically formulated for an aseptic packaging processes where sterilisation is performed by spraying hot H2O2 on to the packaging (COMBIBLOC and STORCK machines). The very low dry residue level of Valsterane® AL3 helps to extend the production time between two cleaning phases and limits the formation of deposits on spraying nozzles or heated zones of the equipment. Valsterane® AL3 purity conforms with the purity levels specified in the European Pharmacopoeia and in the Food Chemical Codex. It is the purest quality of Valsterane®.

Valsterane® AL4

Valsterane® AL4 is specifically formulated for aseptic packaging processes using a bath of H2O2 generally heated between 60 and 80°C, in which the packaging is immersed (TETRA PAK machines). Valsterane® AL4 combines an excellent stability with a low dry residue and is specifically recommended for the new models of Tetra Pak machines. Valsterane® AL4 purity conforms with purity levels specified by the European Pharmacopoeia and Food Chemical Codex.

Our experts from CRRA (our Research Centre based near Lyon in France) can help you to optimize the use of these products in your aseptic machines.
