Actired^® is used to improve processes (Zadra or Anglo-American) for gold recovery from ores by activated carbon elution.

Major advantage: The Actired^® process makes it possible to:

• reduce the time needed for elution,
  
• improve the yield of gold and silver elution,
  
• reduce the elution temperature.
  

These various benefits have a direct impact on the optimization of production costs.

Additional advantage of the process:
It does not involve any modification of the activated carbon, which can therefore be handled under the usual conditions of use.

Patent pending: WO95/08651 filed by Union Minière, with Arkema holding the exclusive international licence. The Actired^® process is based on the controlled addition of hydrazine hydrate (grades 55 or 60) to the elution solution.
