Core Shell Technology

Arkema pioneered and developed the two main technologies going into Core Shell Impact Modifier Technology.  Core shell impact modifiers are used preferentially in a large range of polymers.

Core Shell Technology Cross Section

Over the last couple of decades, Arkema has developed extensive knowledge on core shell technology, designing high performance modifiers for specific market needs and technical requirements owing to a control of technology architecture.

Core Shell Parameters    Performance / Characteristics
Control of rubber chemistry (homo or copo)  Rubber Tg / Toughening performance
Rubber particle size  Toughening performance, rheology, particle deformation
Control of rubber crosslinking  Particle deformation
Control of core shell ratio  Toughening performance
Control of shell chemistry and crosslinking  Dispersion, rheology

The Arkema Clearstrength® and Durastrength® impact modifier product lines offer a large range of technical performance allowing polymers to meet stringent application requirements.
