Benefits with Multiple Peroxides

When a single peroxide is used, the rate of polymerization increases with conversion. Figure 1 shows that increased initiator charge will reduce polymerization time (see pressure drop). However, the process requires more heat exchange capacity to evacuate the heat generated during polymerization and generally results in heat kicks.

Using a front-end initiator like Luperox® 610 "squarifies" the exothermy profile and allows for a polymerization time reduction with the same maximum heat exchange capacity (see below).
