Thermal Analysis

Thermal analysis is used throughout the industry for its diverse applications in a wide range of fields.  Our Thermal Analysis Laboratory offers a variety of instruments including:

• Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC)
• Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA)
• Thermomechanical Analysis (TMA)

Our special focus is on the latest advances in thermal testing techniques, such as modulated techniques.

The main benefits of modulated thermal techniques lie in the enhancement and separation of complex or overlapping transitions, which provide critical information and resolution to problems encountered in product characterization.  Modulated techniques impose a temperature oscillation on a linear or isothermal temperature program.  For modulated DSC (MDSC) and modulated TMA (MTMA), our software separates the sample responses into two components:

• Reversing (heat capacity or expansivity) events, which are rate dependent and follow the temperature modulation
• Non-reversing (kinetic) events, which are time dependent at a particular temperature

Also offered is modulated TGA (MTGA), which can rapidly determine decomposition kinetics.
